“The Drama Workshop arranged for and conducted by Mr. David Morrissey for UNRWA Students in October 2009 was very successful. The Students liked it and were excited while learning new artistic skills. It was an opportunity contributing to promoting their social and life competencies in communication and team work .

Teachers appreciated the activity and learned new strategies for teacing arts lessons to their students. The activity helped to build up teachers’ and students artistic and social capacity. Teachers asked for an enhanced music component in the next similar activity expected, in March 2010.” Roger Davies – Deputy Director of UNRWA Affairs, Lebanon

“The British Embassy Beirut was delighted to support a project which brought an ensemble team of drama trainers from CAST to Lebanon to lead a series of Drama workshops for Palestinian children in UNRWA schools.  This was a rare opportunity for children, who face serious hardships and challenges as refugees in Lebanon, to broaden their horizons about learning, to develop their confidence and to express themselves in new ways.

Over the course of a week the team ran sessions on drama, design, music and movement with an enthusiasm that rubbed off on the children and opened up their creativity.  It is testament to the enthusiasm and skill of the CAST team, that they were able to harness this energy into a hugely impressive finale performance. The excitement and pride exuded by the children as they combined what they had learnt over the week with their own imaginations was a joy to watch.  Such was the emotion at coming to the end of the week that many children, teachers and even some parents were brought to tears.

We were very impressed by the dedication and professionalism of the whole CAST team led by David Morrissey.  Their hard work ensured that the children taking part gained an experience they will not forget. We hope that the confidence this has given them and the taste of the different ways to learn and will open up their mind to new possibilities in school and beyond.  Having seen some of the many letters UNRWA received from the children, and their friends, it is clear that there is a real appetite for further opportunities.” Peter Wilkinson – Political Officer & Programme Coordinator, British Embassy Beirut
